The Laniakea Foundation is a private nonprofit group whose mission is to preserve the history of the Thurston family in Hawaii from 1820 to the present.
This is good advice. I like the Laniakea blog. (I do not like the word blog.) I will be posting to it on a regular basis, I hope, when I return.
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting how Laniakea- related things pop up while I travel. The last time was in London, for instance, Echo and Kaya helped me search a North London cemetery for William Ellis' grave. They pulled away the moss and found an inscription...William Ellis was the English missionary who had such a profound effect on Asa and Lucy. Asa toured the big island with him in 1823, the trip that TTS followed in the 70s, and Bob Krauss recorded in his book The Island Way.
Some where I have pictures of this event (the grave hunt, that is) and somewhere I have a note of the inscription... if anything comes to light on this trip, I can post it right away. (Ace will show me how.. or Echo.. or Kaya.)
Meanwhile I hope to have the website paragraphs done before I leave.
